3C Institute CEO Dr. Melissa DeRosier presented social and emotional learning game Zoo U at the annual ED Games Expo in Washington, DC.
Hosted by global start-up incubator 1776, the event featured 30 game developers funded by the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) programs at the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences and five other federal agencies. The more than 150 attendees mingled with the developers while playing educational games in social and emotional learning, mental health, and stress resilience, among others.
Developed by 3C Institute, Zoo U for K–5 is the only research-proven online game that assesses children’s social and emotional skills and provides a personalized intervention based on that assessment. Players are students in a school for future zookeepers, where Principal Wild and a host of friendly animals help them learn critical skills, such as impulse control, emotion regulation, and communicating effectively, as they navigate common social and emotional learning scenarios. Kids who play Zoo U feel more socially confident, behave less aggressively, and are better able to regulate their emotions.
Zoo U is available for purchase through Personalized Learning Games.
