What We Do
Evidence-based Interventions
3-C Institute for Social Development’s interventions reflect years of research on children’s peer relationships as well as clinical experience working with children and families. 3-C Institute for Social Development (3-C ISD) is devoted to the development of research-based tools that have been shown to be useful and effective.

S.S.GRIN
Social Skills Group Intervention (S.S.GRIN) is a small group intervention designed to build children’s social skills, self-confidence, and personal responsibility which, in turn, support their ability to be successful at school and at home. The S.S.GRIN curriculum provides structured session scripts that professionals in school or community settings can incorporate into small group work with children or parents.

LifeStories For Kids
LifeStories for Kids is a multimedia character education program. Using stories told by award-winning storytellers and evidence-based skill building exercises, LifeStories for Kids addresses character, prosocial, and emotional skills. The intervention is available in kits for schools, and its components are available on an individual basis for home use. The program is most appropriate for elementary-school children in Kindergarten through fifth grades.

Emotional Literacy in the Classroom
Emotional Literacy in the Classroom is a classroom-based curriculum that teaches children about emotions and helps them learn the emotional literacy skills of recognition, understanding, labeling, expressing, and regulating emotion. The curriculum is available for Kindergarten, first, and second grades.

Celebrating the Strengths of Black Youth
(in development) Celebrating the Strengths of Black Youth is a small group intervention program designed to reinforce Black children’s existing strengths and to assist them in developing new strengths, including positive cultural attitudes. The program will include a 10-session curriculum with scripted sessions focusing on social, behavioral, and emotional concerns specific to Black youth. The program also includes multi-media components (e.g., audio stories, interactive computer resources) and family resources designed to engage caregivers.

We are currently recruiting for this program. To find out if your child is eligible to participate, please contact Ndidi Okeke-Adeyanju at adeyanju@3cisd.com.

Cultural Heritage Stories for Kids
(in development) Cultural Heritage Stories for Kids is a classroom-based intervention designed to celebrate diverse cultural heritages, promote acceptance of diversity, and educate students about similarities among cultures. Combining storytelling with classroom-based exercises, the program contains a Hispanic and an African American series that are undergoing testing.
